In the Neighbourhood: Janken

Last night we enjoyed simple and clean food from our neighbours up the road at Janken.

Their Japanese aesthetic was evident right throughout the restaurant. The interior, crafted by a Japanese carpenter, predominantly consisted of wood, white tiles and leather. We loved the two little pull-out drawers as a detail to their kitchen corner, and adding to the feel of the place, everything was served on gorgeous ceramic plates and bowls. We oo-ed and ah-ed over freshly seared tuna, beef titaki, pan-friend snapper and scallops with soba noodle salad. We finished our meal with a raw coconut, blueberry and cashew nut cake for desert.

All in all the vibe was easy and low-maintenance, paired with good food and gorgeous owners. We'll be back!
