Studio Visit: Morgan Haines
Last week we were invited to Sandspit near Matakana to visit the beautiful home of ceramic artist Morgan Haines. Looking like a quaint treehouse from the outside, surrounded by very happy plants and trees, it is inside that the house really comes alive. Oodles of art, vintage collectables, and sculptures made by her father occupy specifically given spaces within Morgan's home. The french doors feel like they're left permanently open letting light pour in and over fabric curtains, and we especially liked hearing a Dolly Parton record playing in the corner.
As much as our eyes feasted on the eclectic collections and curations, we were treated to a wonderfully tasty lunch too! Morgan made a very impressive spread of home-made Lavosh crackers, local buffalo mozzarella, fresh asparagus and smoked salmon salad. Oh, and a glass of local rose! We sat outside amongst the native bush with tuis flying over head, and lunch was served on new Morgan Haines Flower Plates, well, of course!
It was amazing to see where Morgan works from and just how special each and every piece we get into Tessuti really is. As if we didn't love them enough already!
Thank you Morgan for a wonderful day! ...We'll come back anytime!
