A postcard from Paris— Astier de Villatte
To celebrate the arrival of ceramic works by Astier de Villatte we share with you a peek into the home of founders Ivan Pericoli and Benoît Astier de Villatte. Their apartment in Paris is a space of wonder with seventeenth-century floor tiles, incredible furniture and high ceilings, every surface homes a curious object or a breathtaking artwork. 'We have gathered pieces that we love and in this beautiful space with this beautiful volume they become perfectly in tune' says Ivan. The creative duo met at Beaux-Arts when they were students. With a deep interest in the nature of materials and the importance of the handmade— Astier de Villatte make the ceramics in their Paris workshop where each piece is made by one person from start to finish. You will find engraved on every object the initials of Astier de Villatte and the person who made it. Their work suggests an absolute dedication to craftsmanship and celebrates the handmade, as well as an innate playfulness. 'There is nothing worse in decoration, than a wise interior, you have to dare, follow your instinct.'
