Laguiole is the name given to the style of cutlery manufactured in the Aveyron region of Southern France bearing the signature bee. The original pocket knife design dates from the early 19th Century, based on a farmer's knife from the Laguiole village. In 1829 Jean-Pierre designed and made knives with the forged bee being the distinctive mark.
